Who Can Hop That Wall?

So, @Xaldarian asked the question about which walls were passable in this thread (Passable terrain/walls in th Rise). There may or may not be something like this out there already, but if there is, I can’t find it! (edit to add: here’s something in the reddit sub for Vox, linked by @Rikikoo). I’d like to make a map for this, but it’s a big project, so I could use some help. So let’s flex our community muscle and do it together. :opaf:

If you’d like to help, please do the following:

  • Pick a hero, and start testing which walls you can get by with your movement abilities. You can probably do this in bot matches (edit: and now, practice mode!) for most heroes, but might need a buddy for testing things like Vanguards and Acrobounces.

  • Please keep track of which walls are totally passable, and which are only passable in parts. You can use the labeled map diagram below to keep track of which walls you’re testing.

  • If a hero has a skill with a range that changes, please test both. For instance, if Ardan’s B can’t get through a wall, but his B on overdrive can, take a note of it! You’ll see this below as B vs B+

  • Once you have your findings, just put that data into this thread. I’ve set up a placeholders for you to fill. Check the example for formatting.

  • If you feel so inclined, you can also mark up the key map I’ve provided. This is probably useful for walls that are partially passable, but only in certain spaces and certain directions.

Once the text starts coming in, I’ll try to format it into a visual, and in the end, we should have a pretty kick-ass community-built resource!

L1 Yes: Both his A and Ult can do it easily.

L2 No: You can cut corners

L3 No: His C can cut corners

L4 Yes: A and Ult can cross easily

L5 Sort of: Vertically from bush over or vertical to bush otherwise no

L6 No: Except the thin part close to L5

L7 Yes(bottom half): His ult can cross the bottom half of L7. I was surised

L8 Yes(Half closer to lane):His Ult can cross the half closeer to the top lane

L9 Yes(Thin side): His Ult can cross the thin part.

Right Side

R1 Yes: His A and Ult can cross no problem

R2 No; Not even the thin part

R3 No: he can cross the small part next to the bushes

R4 Yes: His Ult and A can cross no problem

R5 No: It is more truangle shaped than your map shows, can’t go over

R6 Sort of: He can cross the small part with his A and Ult

R7 Yes: If right next to the wall you can pass through the Wall(Not crystal part) with his A and Ult.

R8 Partial :His Ult can pass through the tree(Thin) part

R9 Yes: His A and Ult can pass through it.(Not the long part duh)

R10 No

R11 Yes: A and Ult can pass through no problem.

It appears when using his A, you will sometimes partially go into a wall. As soon as you move you will glitch back to the side of the wall you used to on.

Feel free to add a hero with a gap closer or self-displacement ability if I’ve forgotten them, and thanks for helping!

For the heroes that need to hit a jungle monster to get by, your best bet to quickly get vision on those monsters is by abusing the multi cam bug (basically if you sell the multi cam and buy it again after using all of your current cams, you will get another one).

For Grumpjaw, I haven’t tested him yet, but I’m pretty sure he can pass through any terrain that with grumpy as long as it isn’t an obscure dash like across the longest part of L7 or something. I will double check this later.

I wrote a script to download all the tiles of the map found here and re-assemble them, if you happen to need a high-res picture.

How large is this file of yours? Your link to it isn’t working.

Output .bmp was over 50Mo, converted .png was around 15Mo. I’ll try again via Imgur, give me a minute.

If the file is really large like that, it’d be best to host on Imgur or SmugMug or whatever and post a link.

I thought the forums uploader could take it, rip. Anyways, Imgur apparently compressed the file, it’s under 2Mo now.

If you tap / click on the image it expands, and if you tap / click on it again it shows it in true size. You can see all the details fine.

Baron’s B Jump jets needs a map to explain properly…

What I don’t quite understand is how Krul can jump a wall…?

It isn’t actually a jump. But he can A onto someone on the other side of a very thin wall if he has vision on them. It’s totally dependent on how close the enemy is to the wall… So you can’t rely on it working. Just know that you can give them a “SURPRISE!!!” death

Blackfeather’s A is another example of this kinda “jump”

Also, @HipsterSkaarf - dude… I wonder if it’s possible to make an svg “map” of the walls… then take different map drawing like this and map them over the 1st map.

Bear with me here lol, But IF we could manage do that, we could make a fully responsive mini-app with html/css/js, and just toggle different heroes’ map overlays one-at-a-time! So we could have a sort of quick reference when playing a match of what walls X hero can get over.
