EdAWACS Hero Idea: Janice

Hey, everyone, this is EdAWACSdenyY and Welcome to the Vainglory Hero Spotlight, today we will be looking at Janice, the Herald of Enlightened Sapience who answers the prayers of those in need and humbles enemies and allies alike.

A member of the Heralds of Living Bright, Janice embodies the aspect of Enlightened Sapience and strives for order in harmony and is one of the most amicable yet naive members of the Heralds. Like the other Heralds, Janice serves the Light, the embodiment of Certainty and Order. Like the other Heralds, Janice fought in the Uncertain War, supporting her allies from the midline purifying the Netherborn and safeguarding her allies from harm.

However, when the Herald of Valor started down his descent into madness from his own doubt in The Light, Janice in her naivete believed that there was still some shred of sanity within her former friend when the other Heralds had deemed him a threat and sealed him away. With that foolish belief, Janice freed the Mad Herald from what should have been his eternal bondage and unwittingly set him free where he caused great calamity and contaminated The Essence. Janice had no choice but to put down her crazed comrade.

But the damage he did was irreversible as he unleashed a malevolent elemental force.

Branded a traitor by the leader of the Heralds: Solaris, Janis was banished from the Radiance to contemplate atonement for her mistake. For eons, she wandered the land, immortalized in myth by man as a kindred spirit. However, with the revival of the Mad Herald and the resurgence of the Nether, Janice must cast off the shackles of her mistakes and seek redemption.

On the Rise, Janis is a powerful support who cuts off the advance of her enemies and protect allies in critical need of help from miles away. Her divine aspect grants allies powerful bonuses while her team-wide ultimate allows her team to shoulder the onslaught.

HEROIC PERK: Enlightenment

Allied Heroes near Janice are granted 5-10% extra experience from Enemies KILLED and ASSISTS ON KILLS

Upon reaching level 8, Janice gains TRUE SIGHT with exception towards enemy scout cams, and scout traps.

A: Gate of Blinding

Janice summons an Angelic Gate of Light. Enemies who pass through the gate take damage and are heavily slowed for 0.7 seconds.

If Janice is within 10 meters or less of an allied hero, she can cast Gate of Blinding around that hero.

Additionally, enemies FACING the gate when it is summoned are BLINDED and REVEALED for 1.2 SECONDS, allowing them to land basic attacks but unable to deal damage or apply on-hit effects with them.

  • Deals 50% damage to lane minions

B: Answered Prayer

Janice stands in place and channels for 2 seconds than dashes to the nearest targeted allied champion.

  • Upon arrival, Janice grants the targeted allied champion 6% DAMAGE REDUCTION scaling with 2% of Janice’s TOTAL HEALTH.

  • The targeted allied champion is CLEANSED of ALL NON-MOVEMENT IMPAIRING negative status effect.

  • If the targeted allied hero is below 20% health. Janice can dash towards them from a greater distance.

  • This ability can be upgraded a total of 6 TIMES

  • Upon overdriving Answered Prayer, Janice’s dash becomes a teleport.

Cooldown: 20s/18s/16s/14s/12s/10s

Energy Cost: 520/550/600/610/620/700

Range: 7/7/7/7/7/10

Increased Ranged: 15/15/15/15/15/22

ULTIMATE: Radiant Blessing

Janice forms a blessed zone at the targeted area where Divine Light slowly descends. After a 3 second delay, allied heroes standing inside the blessed zone are CLEANSED of ALL CROWD CONTROL for a short period.

  • Allies granted INVULNERABILITY ARE STILL SUSCEPTIBLE to crowd control and non-movement impairing negative status effects.

  • If Janice is immobilized or killed before the Radiant Blessing’s 3-second delay, The blessed zone immediately vanishes and the ability goes on full cooldown.

  • If Janice manages to grant invulnerability to ONE allied hero other than herself, the cooldown of Answered Prayer is automatically refreshed.

  • This Ultimate can only be upgraded 2 TIMES

Cooldown: 100s/80s

Energy Cost: 320/800

Invulnerability Duration: 0.9s/1.5s

Blessed Zone Radius: 3

Range: 7/10

Her passive is honestly too strong. I like how she supports, but doubling EXP is WAYYYYY too strong, especially for heroes that can play aggressively like Rona. Pair that with the ability to have true sight and she has some pretty op utility since her abilities are not half bad

How would you propose to nerf her?

Remove the exp buff. It’s too strong overall. Either that or HEAVILY lower the exp gain. Like down to 5-10% extra maybe since the rest of her passive is still very good. Even at those low percentages it is still a very strong passive

Ok I changed that but what do you think of her base stats and ability stats as well as her kit overall?

Oof her WP is honestly way too high. It is higher than Phinn’s The highest WP in the game and not by a little bit and is only a bit slower than Lance’s attack speed, and she’s FASTER than Lance with nearly as much hp and movespeed as Grace one of the fastest heroes in the game. Her base stats are insane. Instant permaban if any hero had those kinds of stats lol

how would you advise changing it? and what about her ability stats and her kit overall?

First, her WP should go down to maybe Ardan’s level, which is 80-140 and not Grace’s since Grace chain attacks. HP is fine. Energy cost on her B is too high…unless she has Varya’s energy regen lol. Other than that it seems fine as far I can see

The energy cost of her B is high because of how powerful of an ability it is.

Is there a cap to the damage reduction? If not, then I would keep the late game cooldowns high and still lower the energy cost. Ardan also reduces damage by a ton, especially in the late game and he does not use energy at all In fact, I would probably not even touch the cooldowns. Keep in mind she needs to channel for 2.5 seconds, which leaves you vulnerable to CC and the targeted ally having to survive for 2.5 seconds before getting the damage reduction. Ardan does not. The ally does not even gain a speed boost, so if they’re at 20% hp and being chased, they will not become any faster.

It seems decently balanced

REWORKED JANICE’S ULTIMATE how does it look compared to her old ultimate?

I like her old ultimate better due to the fact that invulnerability is one of the best buffs in the game so to not make it to strong, its limited to an area around herself instead of a targeted location.

Edit: what is the area size again for her ultimate?

Bulwark size? Sigil Size?

It’s Porcupine Mortar Sized or Sigil sized. It’s not Bulwark sized as that would be too op

TBH, Her ult is like Taric’s ult in LoL. Maybe a little rework would work.

First, why only make the ult upgradable two times? Second, 3s is a long delay. While I understand you don’t want to make it OP, if you have a delay like that, you’re never going to be able to clutch save an ally (which I assume is what it’s for?)

Because her B ability can be upgraded 6 times. As for the delay yeah I should lower it to about 2.3 seconds. Her ultimate is yes for saving her team, but it’s also a teamwide buff for her allies in preparation for a fight.
