It will almost certainly either be forked off your 3v3 ranked mmr (my favoured approach) and compressed a bit or it will be read directly off your casual 5v5 mmr.
They could start afresh by why would you when you already have data which is likely to be predictive.

Now I kinda hope they do it based of the 5v5 casuals because I have a decent win rate there, whereas I quit ranking when wp varya came into existence, and haven’t played ever since.
I don’t really think starting fresh is a good idea, since it’ll mean that t9s/10s are playing with/against people who actually belong in that tier, and that doesn’t sound like a good idea…

The matchmaker was never properly done. And it likely wont ever be. Instead if trying to put new and experienced players always in their respective groups SEMC should teach new players how to actually play. Just knowing how to kill a minion doesnt show the strategics behind the game.
