RWBY Pre-Vol 7 Interlude Thread

Great! But

Last question is that, does the Rooster app have a butt load of ads like crunchyroll (without membership)?

Cuz if not, ill download it on the spot

iirc it has some, but they weren’t ridiculous … I forgot to sign in one time and saw the ads and wasn’t bothered by them.

Was wondering, what’s everyone’s favourite weapon from rwby? Like looking at weapon concepts and now rwby weapon concept art, and got me thinking about what others like here.

My pick

Flynt coals trumpet, I really like music themed or musical weapons. Playing nice music while fighting is always fun.

Also sorry if this is hijacking the thread, thought it be interesting

Just thought I’d share one of my favorite moments — Ruby’s letter to Yang at the end of Volume 4:

Ruby's Letter

Hey, sis,

I hope my letters have been reaching you and Dad. I know written stuff has never been super reliable, but I guess it’s all we’ve got these days. Anyways, in case you haven’t been getting them, I want to say I’m sorry for leaving the way I did. I know you told me it was a reckless idea, and after everything I’ve been through, I can definitely say you were right.

It’s been hard — hard on all of us — and I’m not just talking about the monsters we’ve fought out here. Every step we made took us further and further away from the things we knew, and every morning, we woke up wondering if just over the next hill would be something good or something terrible. It’s scary, not knowing what’s going to happen next. And the things we do know now — just how bad it can get — almost makes it all worse.

You told me once that bad things just happen. You were angry when you said it, and I didn’t want to listen. But you were right: Bad things do happen. They happen all the time, every day. Which is why I’m out here: to do whatever I can, wherever I can and hopefully, do some good.

We’ve all lost something. I’ve seen what loss can do to people. But if we gave up every time we lost, then we’d never be able to keep moving forward. We’d never have a chance to see whatever beautiful things the future might have waiting for us. We’d never have the strength to change, whether it’s ourselves, or the world around us. And we’d never be there for other people, who one day, might be lost without us.

This is what we were training for, Yang — to become Huntresses, to be the ones to stand up and do something about all the bad in the world, because there are plenty of people out there who are still lost and even more who will try to gain everything they can from their sorrow.

Believe me when I say I know it can feel impossible, like every single day is a struggle against some unstoppable monster we can never hope to beat. But we have to try — if not for us, then for the people we’ve already for the people we haven’t lost yet.

I miss you so much. I miss Weiss and Blake, too. But I think you’d all be proud to know I made it to Mistral. All of us did. And we even ran into Uncle Qrow along the way. He’s going to take us to see Professor Lionheart, the headmaster of Haven Academy. And he told us some things you’re going to want to hear — things I can’t trust will make it to you in this letter. But maybe if you joined us, he could tell you himself. With Beacon gone, they’ll need Dad at Signal more than ever. I know you need to focus on yourself before I can expect you to come out with me, but it sure would be great to get Team RWBY back together again.

Until next time, your loving sister,

Ruby Rose

P.S. I’ll be sure to give you the address of where we’re staying in Mistral. I’d love to hear back from you and Dad, and I can’t wait to fill you in on whatever’s going to happen next.

I don’t usually post links to fan-written fiction here, but in honor of Valentine’s Day, I thought I’d share my very favorite RWBY fanfic of all:

It’s called Walk Where the Wild Things Grow by explosivesky, and it features a fascinating alternate history for Remnant and for the main characters. It’s a love story about Blake and Yang, and it’s amazing in every way. If you decide to read it, be aware that there is some sexual content, but imo it’s tastefully written.

A few months after she wrote the story, the author posted some background on the lore behind it. Once you’ve read the story, take a few minutes to read that post – it’s well worth it and makes the story itself even more beautiful.

If you like her work, you can follow the author on AO3 and/or on Tumblr

Rooster Teeth’s official Valentine’s Day cards were just posted on Twitter! This is the one for RWBY! :honeybee::honeybee:

I honestly really want to know how invested you are in :honeybee: at this point. You’ve gone to reading fanfics about it and I feel like that doesn’t even show the true extent of your investment.

I’m a romantic at heart – when I read a story or watch a movie, in the end, I want the heroes to save the world and to find happiness. RWBY isn’t nearly over yet, but it fits so well with the sort of stories I enjoy: the characters are strong women (which I find remarkably refreshing) who grow and change and always try to better themselves; their struggle is an epic one – they are literally trying to save the world; and best of all, they are all driven in one way or another by love.

With regard to Yang and Blake, I simply think that theirs is an amazing love story. They complement each other perfectly, and their relationship develops very gradually and believably over the series. Vol 6 was just perfect as far as I’m concerned. And I absolutely can’t wait for Vol 7!

Re: fanfics – after I’d watched RWBY a couple of times, I ran across a rather long fic that was set in an alternate timeline where Beacon never fell. I enjoyed it so much that I started looking around for others. And now I’ve read at least a couple dozen – some great, some good, some not so much. (And I’ve written a few myself, actually!)

So, I get a lot of enjoyment out of not only RWBY itself but the fandom surrounding it. And it’s something I can share with my daughter, who’s also a huge fan of the series. (Even my son enjoys it, though not to the extent that she and I do.)

Barb and Arryn will be appearing at the first digital anime convention – part of Anime Milwaukee 2019 – beginning tomorrow and running through Sunday. The RWBY “virtual panel” featuring Barb and Arryn will be live streamed on Unlocked, and an all-access pass is available here for $5.

The RWBY panel is from 7-8 pm CST (GMT -6) tomorrow night.

Well , I don’t watch anime but I watch tv shows and movies , but I never been a huge fan of something like you doing here with rwby , I enjoy the show and just wait for the next season while I watch other shows , but I do look for things related to my favorite games , fanfiction and art like I could understand that because games can be played daily and you get connected to them , but tv shows or movies are something like a temporary feeling , you could live and enjoy the environment and the discussion between the characters but at the end it’s just ends and you move on , unless you make that tv series or movie a part of your life and focus on it , my favorite tv shows and movies changing constantly because I give others the chance to change my mind and attract me to a new world , events and characters .

For me, there’s a lot to love about RWBY, and I think that’s why the series really captured my imagination in a big way. Here are some of the things that appeal most to me:

Themes

  • Love - the overarching theme of the series, for me: there are so many examples of love in the show: familial love (as between Ruby and Yang and Qrow and between Blake and her parents), the love of friendship (as between Ruby and Weiss, Ruby and Jaune, Ruby and Oscar), and romantic love (as between Ren and Nora and between Blake and Yang)
  • Loyalty - an outgrowth of love, the characters give one another the benefit of the doubt when an action or decision is questioned
  • Perseverance - each character is always striving to keep moving forward, despite setbacks and in the face of seemingly impossible odds

Characters

  • It would be impossible for me to be succinct about what I love about each of the characters in the series, so I’ll just say that I find every main character to be well-written, well-acted, and a realistic reflection of the sorts of people you find in real life.

Setting

  • Remnant is a pretty fascinating place: from the “dust” that provides energy to its inhabitants to its shattered moon, there has been a lot to discover about the planet on which the series takes place
  • Magic - stories about heroes with magical abilities or super powers can be pretty uninteresting after a while, but while each main character in RWBY has some sort of super power (their “semblance”), that power is limited in several ways (by requiring dust, by depleting energy reserves (aura), etc.); in addition, REAL magic is vanishingly rare and not often seen in the series

Story

  • The storytelling in RWBY is top notch, imo – my daughter told me even before I started watching the series that “every detail means something in RWBY,” and she was not wrong! The story is told honestly, without any sort of baiting of the viewer, and it’s delivered in a positive fashion with plenty of humor mixed in.
  • That said, there is a LOT of story left – and that’s one reason that the RWBY fandom (often called the “FNDM” after the naming convention of hunter/huntress teams) is so active during and between volumes: everyone has their own theories about the meaning of the clues the writers left and about where things are headed next.

So, that’s a hugely long-winded response to your comment! So I’ll end here :open_book:
