League Pro Season 2020

Omg, I’m so glad that League’s esports have resumed! Finally, something to watch during quarantime :mask: Watching the LPL semis right now – IG vs TES (and TES is punishing IG rn :astonished:)

Ahahahahahaha – best line of the day:

IG’s Leyan on Qiyana whiffs with her ult (Supreme Display of Talent) by hitting a turret base instead of a wall, stunning literally no one during a teamfight …

Caster: “That was a supreme display of disappointment from Leyan!”

ICYMI, :lol_msi: MSI is cancelled for 2020:

Tl;dr: the Riot esports team is now focusing solely on Worlds, especially the finals in Shanghai.

Also, they’ve announced some changes to the regions receiving slots for Worlds (due to the absence of MSI this year and the merger of two regional leagues):

The 2020 World Championship will see the following regional seed distribution:

  • LPL (China), LEC (Europe): 4 Teams each
  • LCK (Korea), LCS (North America): 3 Teams each
  • PCS (Southeast Asia), VCS (Vietnam): 2 Teams each
  • CBLOL (Brazil), TCL (Turkey), LJL (Japan), LLA (Latin America), OPL (Oceania), LCL (Commonwealth of Independent States) : 1 Team each

The LPL is back at it this morning, with defending world champs :lol_fpx: FunPlus Phoenix playing JD Gaming in the last spring semifinal match! Winner will face Top Esports in the final next Saturday!

EDIT: >20K viewers for the English language stream, and the match hasn’t even started yet!

Some technical issues with the stream out of China this AM, so they’ve apparently decided to broadcast in 8 bit pixel art for now :space_invader: :joystick:

So I’ve been watching VODs from the :lol_logo_lcs2: regular season this week (trying to complete the “watch LOL esports” missions) – some really great games in the spring split! But wtf is wrong with Team Liquid???

:lol_logo_lpl: back in action today to start the Summer Split – some good matches so far, and all of them have been entertaining! (LPL teams are very aggressive, in general.) A great thing about the early part of each split is the very deep hero pools – you see lots of experimentation while teams figure out what works.

Also, the commercials are great! So different from those in the western leagues!

My very favorite thing about the :lol_logo_lpl: casters is the fact that they have floofs and Tibberses and minis all over the set :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Please enjoy this list of the music from the :lol_logo_lpl: broadcasts:

Also: the interlude theme from the current split is this one: http://links.universalproductionmusic.com/pR4Fbt

Looking like Aphelios and Orianna are must-picks in the :lol_logo_lpl: this summer …

Watching the LCK :lol_logo_lck: this morning … their broadcasts are quite different from the other regions I’ve watched, and the play is different as well. Very interesting to see the varied play styles!

(Also, some seriously weird drafts so far! So fun!)

Holy schnikes … just watched T1 utterly annihilate Hanwha Life … Faker is still a king, btw

LCK :lol_logo_lck: in action here: https://watch.lolesports.com/live/lck/lck

Also in this match: T1 showing how to make an enemy Aphelios largely irrelevant!

EDIT: Hanwha Life prove they’re not pushovers as they take the 2nd game from T1 in convincing fashion! Nicely done, chaps!

O. M. G. :persevere:  :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: :scream: :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

The first game in this week’s marquee match (IG vs. EDG) was astonishing in soooo many ways – IG’s draft was weak, EDG dominated from the outset … yet the game went > 50 minutes because of EDG’s indecision and poor shotcalling as well as some outstanding play from IG. Well worth watching the VOD, to which I’ll post the link when it’s available!

Pretty sure the :lol_logo_lpl: is the most entertaining league to watch!
