Then you are balancing for the average player, not the full potential of a hero. Imagine balancing skye fro the average player, who doesnt know how to play her, a player that knows how to play her would be unbeatable. For doing what you propose you can give them tools to outplay.
The suggestions I’ve made regarding changes to the map makes melee heroes more beneficial top because of the buffs to be honest.
I could modify the buff so that it could maybe reduce damage from ranged carries when they’re afar from the holder of the buff?
Thats exactly the opposite of what I was going. But ok. It seems I need to rephrase it better
Thats like a double bladed sword. Were you talking about the Wp and Cp treant buffs?
Then the real question is do you balance for the average player or the skill potential of that hero
Yeah, by balancing it (from what I said before) I meant that its still a viable hero, not trash like rona rn.
New buff. You’ll have to read one of my post suggesting map changes and such.
I mean that’s a drawback of being melee lol. I love melees. I always have. Always prefer them. I had a long argument with Guest last few days about melee heroes vs ranger heroes and I do think they’re not in a good place. No bias here. But with all that said making them get money for missed CS isn’t a way to make them more viable. It’s like saying Ringo can not 1v1 Krul so we need to change it. It’s just different set of pros and cons. Being melee means you’re much more likely to be bullied and punished for CSing in lane. Getting caught by a melee hero when you’re ranged usually means (or should mean…ahem useless VG warrior class) death. It shouldn’t be changed because it’s just what different types of heroes shine at.
That’s simply not true. He had more than 1 year when he wasn’t just not good he was completely useless. He wasn’t even close to low tier viability.
No one complained about BFs slow or rose trail. According to SEMC rose trail dropped FPS too hard. Kinda weird considering my bad performance on my bad tablet wasn’t any different using BF and believe me I’ve used him A LOT. I’ve had problems with other stuff but trail never did anything. Slow was removed because… well damn I don’t know. Doubt SEMC knows either…
I am pretty sure this was an outright lie, tbh.
Don’t know really but I think Nivmett said that in the thread on this forum.
I’m sure that’s what he was told, but in all the hundreds (? thousands) of matches I played when the rose trail existed, I never saw any effect on frame rate. And I’ve never seen anyone report that getting rid of the rose trail improved anything with regard to graphics performance.
IF there is some truth to it, I could imagine that the rose trail coupled with another hero’s effects could have affected frame rates. (Example: Lorelai’s pools caused all sorts of glitches – mostly massive frame rate issues – on my iPad Pro when she was first released.) But of course, they didn’t communicate the explanation that way, so we’re left with a statement that seems unsupported by any evidence.
Yeah I know. Drifting dark was another one like that. It used to just freeze the game for many people including me. As I said my tablet is pretty old and bad and I do have performance issues. Bf might be my most played hero ever and I never had any additional problems with him than any other hero. In my worst patches (FPS wise) most problematic was Celeste. Especially with her t3 skin. Some other heroes dropped FPS too but BF no problems at all.
They keep nerfing an already weak class, I don’t understand what they are doing…
This is the real problem though.
If melee characters were actually WORTH USING then this wouldn’t be as bad, but as of now, there’s like, Anka and Idris. That’s about it. It’s just SEMC’s constant pattern of screwing over melee characters over and over, giving them the short end of the stick every single time which has my blood boiling, and this last hitting thing is another part of it. If you aren’t going to make them stronger, why make their weakness even more crippling?
Yes I understand you and I agree. They’re weak and SEMC never had good changes about them. They’re pretty random usually. If a warrior is strong they make sure to kill him off for the next half year at least in the next patch. But my point was getting money for missing CS isn’t the way to fix them.
I mean, if I had to be more general I would have to point out that making laning more difficult for non-typical laners reduces the pool of viable laners which continues to propagate the stale meta that we’ve come to see in the past few patches (in 5v5, at least) where it’s just 2 ranged damage laners and 3 captains, and unlike the numbers balancing is a more permanent change that will cause players to constantly ignore gold hungry melee characters unless they are absurdly overpowered because the risk isn’t worth the reward.
Still working on the heroes themselves should be the way to fix it. Not by rewarding them for failing at something. They need to be able to do what they’re supposed to do. Not get paid for staying in lane doing nothing. The idea about trickle decrease was to make earning money more activity based and less passive. This goes against it.
Remember.
- This is not rewarding them for missing. They are STILL PUNISHED, just not as much.
- Fixing heroes by buffing their numbers leads to a more volatile meta where unless a melee character has high enough numbers to be worth the bad laning phase they’re just not worth it. This is where you get characters like release Kensei, where they become insanely toxic to play against because to make up for their weak laning phase they have extremely strong duelling, split-push (Note: Split-pushing is objectively anti-fun.), teamfight, ect. Or they all in you at level 2 and combo you to death (Hi Grumpjaw)
- Although I agree that the game should be more active, I’d say that this should come in the form of giving less of a damn about last hits and more about lane trading and the 1v1. A lot of laning phases come down to people just trying to push the wave under tower and make the enemy miss last hits, instead of actually bothering to kill the enemy laner.
Lets make the perfect dualist. Bf with a Fiora style kit .
This is coming from a Fiora one trick
