Dragon's eye vs shatterglass

Heroes with CP ratios in their base attacks or heroes with AC only have to basic attack. Ringo had CP damage in his basic attacks. So does celeste Lorelai Lyra Reim and several others…

The assumption that you get killed when basic attacking is also just that. An assumption… Gwen has 2 fail safes and can use AS to get the crystal hit from basic attacking.

It is the reason AS and DE or DE AC get paired…

Wait, have you suggest that we should build CP and play like WP?
Reminder: the working principle of BP is the more damage you have, the easier you can stack. Take example of Gwen, AA + A = 5 stacks of BP instantly.

In order to stack DE you have to constantly attacking, and the stacking speed is the same, no matter it has 1 stack or 100000 stacks. Besides, CP heroes is not like WP heroes, they have burst damage or deal damage each X seconds which X not 1. If X = 1 then it is WP heroes (except Celeste)

Actually you dont need to do cp damage to stack DE. You just need to be attacking a enemy hero. Basic attacking a enemy hero once every second stacks DE just as quick as spamming helios and landing every single one.

Then @mq003at his argument is even weaker…

Does the tick damage from SF stack DE? With the mortal wounds it is now good item item to rush (ie on Skye, but especially on AoE heroes).

If the tick damage stacks it this would work well on Gwen.

No. Basically every pro still uses DE in every CP build. 75% of the time its paired with Eve.

History and stats on DE:

  • 2.9 Base CP 85 with 20 CP per second with a max of 9 stacks. Max CP 265. Surpasses SG at 4 seconds with 165 total CP.

  • 2.11 Base CP 85 with 15 CP per second with a max of 12 stacks. Max CP 265. Surpasses SG at 5 seconds with 160 total CP. The huge change was the stacks now fall off 1/sec after 4 sec instead of 3/sec after 2.5sec.

  • 3.0 Base CP 85 with 12 CP per second with a max of 18 stacks. Max CP 301. Surpasses SG at 6 seconds with 157 total CP. At max stacks, DE provides the damage of 2 SG. Over the same 12 second period, 2.11 granted 265 CP vs 3.0 granting 229 CP.

If you are going to be in auto attack range or can spam skills due to low cooldowns at a combined 4 seconds or less, DE is still great. If you build tanky with 2-3 defensive items, DE is great. If you want upfront burst, have long cooldowns, or need to hit a CP threshold, SG is great.

The tick damage from SF does not stack DE.
